Privacy Policy

App Name: My Orderly Home Effective Date: March 16, 2026 Last Updated: September 8, 2026 Policy Version: 1.2.0

My Orderly Home ("we", "our", "the app") is a personal inventory management application. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, the third-party services we use, and your rights regarding your information.

This policy covers both the app and the website at myorderlyhome.com. Sections 1(a) through 1(k) and Sections 2 through 11 describe the app. Section 1(l) describes the two things the website itself does: the free printable label maker at myorderlyhome.com/labels, and the optional mailing list. You do not need an account to use the label maker, and using it sends us nothing.

1. Information We Collect

a) Account Information (Required)

You may sign in using Google, using Apple, or with a single-use sign-in link sent to your email address. When using Google or Apple sign-in, we receive only your email and name from those services. We do not access your contacts. If you choose to use the optional lending-reminder feature, the app will ask your permission to add reminder events to your Google Calendar — see Section 1(k) below.

b) Inventory Data (User-Created)

c) Media (Optional)

Photos and receipts are uploaded only when you explicitly choose to attach them to an item. We compress images before upload to reduce storage usage.

d) Voice Input (Optional)

If you use the bulk voice entry feature, your spoken words are processed on-device using speech recognition. The transcribed text may be sent to a cloud service (a third-party AI processing service) for parsing into structured item data. Audio recordings are not stored.

e) Photo Bulk Entry (Optional)

If you use the photo bulk entry feature, photos you take or select are sent to a cloud service (a third-party AI processing service) for parsing into structured item data. The photos are processed for item recognition only and are not stored by that service.

f) Location Data (Optional)

Location data (approximate and/or precise) is collected only when you explicitly tap "Add Location" when sending an access request to a container owner. Location is never collected in the background or automatically. The location data is attached to that specific access request notification and stored on our servers.

g) Purchase History (Automatic)

If you subscribe to a paid plan, your subscription status and purchase history are processed through our subscription-management provider. We store your subscription tier, status, and entitlements. We do not store credit card numbers or payment method details — these are handled entirely by Google Play.

h) App Usage and Performance Data (Automatic)

i) In-App Messages and Notifications

We store in-app notifications related to sharing activity, access requests, and system messages. Push notification tokens (via our push-notification provider) are stored to deliver notifications to your device.

j) Device Verification (Automatic)

To prevent fraudulent re-signups, when you sign up we verify your device using a device-integrity and anti-fraud verification service and store a one-way, irreversible fingerprint derived from your device's identifier. The fingerprint is pseudonymous — it cannot be reversed to identify your device or you, and we do not store the raw device identifier. We use it only to detect repeat signups from the same device. Fingerprints are retained for up to 2 years and then automatically deleted. If verification fails (e.g., on emulators, rooted devices, or sideloaded app installations) signup is denied. You can contact support if you believe this happened in error.

k) Google Calendar (Optional)

If you choose to add a return reminder for an item you have lent or borrowed, the app asks your permission to access your Google Calendar using the calendar.events scope (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.events). With your consent, we create a single reminder event on your primary Google Calendar containing the item name, the other person's name, and the expected return date. We only write the reminder events you explicitly create — we do not read, modify, or delete any of your existing calendar events, and we do not copy the contents of your calendar onto our servers. You can revoke this access at any time from your Google Account permissions page.

My Orderly Home's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

l) Website: Label Maker and Mailing List

The label maker collects nothing. The printable label maker at myorderlyhome.com/labels runs entirely in your browser. The words you type on your labels, the styles and paper size you pick, and the sheet you print are never sent to us or to anyone else, are not stored on our servers, and do not require an account. What the page remembers between visits is kept in your own browser's local storage on your device, and clearing your browser data removes it.

The mailing list is optional and opt-in. The label maker page may offer a card inviting you to join a launch and product-update list. You are never required to join it in order to make or print labels. If you choose to join:

The mailing list is separate from your app account. Joining it does not create an account, and deleting your app account does not remove you from the mailing list — unsubscribe separately if you want both gone.

2. How We Use Your Data

3. Data Storage and Security

Media Stored on Your Device

Where the App Is Offered, and Where Your Data Is Stored

The app is not currently offered in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland. Your data is stored and processed in the United States (US West — Oregon), and the third-party services listed in Section 4 may also process it outside your own country.

If we make the app available in the EEA in future, data for users in that region will be hosted within the EEA rather than transferred out of it, and we will update this policy before that happens.

4. Third-Party Services and Data Sharing

We use the following third-party services to operate the app and the website. Each receives only the minimum data necessary for its function:

Service Data Shared Purpose
Cloud hosting & database All account and inventory data Primary database, authentication, and file storage
Subscription management Purchase history, anonymous device ID Subscription and in-app purchase management
Product analytics App interactions, search history, device ID; optionally user identity if analytics consent is given Product analytics and feature flags
Error monitoring Crash logs, diagnostics, device info Error tracking and performance monitoring
Push notifications Device push token Push notification delivery
AI processing (voice & photo entry) Voice transcription text or photos (for bulk entry only) Parsing spoken/photographed items into structured data
Device integrity & anti-fraud Signed device verification token at signup; salted hash of Android ID Fraud prevention — detects emulators, rooted devices, tampered apps, and repeat signups from the same device
Email delivery (website mailing list) Email address, and the time it was submitted — only if you opted in Hosting the launch/product-update mailing list and sending those emails

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data to any third party. We do not use advertising SDKs. Your inventory data is visible only to you and users you explicitly share it with.

Analytics Privacy Controls

We use a two-mode analytics approach:

5. Data Retention and Deletion

a) Deleting Individual Data

You can delete your data at any time without deleting your account:

Deleted items, containers, and storage areas are soft-deleted (hidden from the app immediately) and permanently purged from our servers within 7 days. Their photos and receipts are removed from our storage immediately upon deletion, along with the copies of those photos held on this phone.

b) Exporting Your Data

You can export all your data at any time via Settings > Export My Data. This generates a ZIP archive containing data.json (your profile, storage areas, containers, items, categories, tags, lending records, shared access records, access labels, favorites, and notifications), a readable index.html summary, and a README.txt.

The export does not contain your media. It lists the file name of every photo and receipt, but the files themselves — and any link to them — are deliberately left out, because a link inside an exported file would work for anyone the file reaches. To keep a copy of your pictures, use Download all to this phone in the photo gallery, or save them individually.

c) Deleting Your Account

You can delete your entire account via Settings > Delete Account. Account deletion works as follows:

d) Data We Keep After Account Deletion

After account deletion, we may retain the following limited records for legal and fraud prevention purposes. Where a record is described below as a one-way fingerprint, it is a value derived from your information that we can match against but cannot read back: it cannot be used to contact you, to identify you from the record alone, or to recover your account.

e) What Deletion Does Not Remove — Data on Your Device

Deleting your account, and signing out, act on our servers. Neither one wipes what is held on your phone. The app's offline cache and the on-device copies of your photos stay in the app's storage on the device until you remove them yourself.

This matters on a shared phone: the next person to open the app on that device can still reach the local copies unless they are cleared. To clear them:

6. Permissions We Request

Permission Purpose Required
InternetSync data with cloud and access online featuresYes
CameraTake photos of items; scan QR codesOptional
MicrophoneVoice input for bulk item entryOptional
LocationAttach your location to access requests (user-initiated only)Optional
NotificationsReceive push notifications about sharing activityOptional
Photo LibrarySelect existing photos to attach to items; and, if you turn that setting on, save a copy of photos you take in the app into your phone's own gallery albumOptional

7. Subscriptions and Payments

My Orderly Home offers two subscription plans (Basic and Premium) managed through Google Play and processed by our subscription-management provider. We do not directly handle payment information — all billing is managed by Google Play. Your subscription status and tier are stored in our database to enforce feature access and usage limits.

8. Container Sharing and QR Codes

When you share a container, other users can view its contents based on the access level you set. Sharing is controlled through:

You retain full control over who can access your shared containers and can revoke access at any time.

9. Age Requirement

This app is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Your Rights

You have the right to:

These rights do not depend on paying us. If your subscription lapses and the app shows the subscription screen, that screen still carries Export my data, Delete my account and Sign out — and, while a deletion is pending, Keep my account. You never have to subscribe in order to obtain a copy of your data, ask for it to be erased, or change your mind about erasing it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date and the "Policy Version" shown at the top of this page. The app records which policy version you accepted, so that version number identifies the exact wording you agreed to. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
